Manually Controlled Car Train
The high speed self-propelled CarLiner cars are mechanically coupled into
short train sets with an operator in the lead car. This service for passengers
needing to take along their automobiles enables MegaRail to provide hi-speed
inter city service within 30 months with virtually zero
technical and schedule risk because operation is similar to current manual train
operation with only proven, off the shelf technology. Safety and capacity are
increased by use of the unique MegaRail capability to precisely measure train
position on a continuous basis using simple sensors and references located
inside the patented enclosed guideway rails and car-based switching that does
not require moveable rails.

WhisperLiner & CarLiner Lead Car
The CarLiner lead car is identical to the WhisperLiner lead car. The car has
a train crew in the front and a passenger compartment in the rear that is
identical to the WhisperLiner passenger cars. In cases of short trains, this car
may be the only passenger car on the train. Longer trains have one or more
additional WhisperLiner passenger cars.

CarLiner Car Carrier
Private automobiles are carried on the trains in special, lightweight car containers. Wheel guide channels guide the car wheels to center the car in the container. Roll-up doors at both sides allow the driver and passengers to exit their cars at the origin station and then re-enter the cars upon arrival at their destination station. The doors roll down after the driver and passengers exit so as to provide a smooth exterior for the container during travel aboard the train.

Passengers drive their cars directly into containers
CarLiner passengers drive their own cars directly in to CarLiner containers at their departure station. The driver pulls into the first of the waiting line of empty containers and continues to drive until the car arrives in the last empty container.
When the car stops, the driver and passengers exit the car and walk down the platform alongside the empty container to board the passenger coach.
As soon as the driver and passengers exit a car, the roll-down side doors close for travel aboard the train.

Car Containers loaded aboard CarLiner as passengers exit
As soon as the driver and passengers exit a car and the doors are closed, a lift mechanism at the station lifts the container into place in a waiting container car of the train. This sequential loading sequence allows the train to leave the station shortly after the last passenger boards the train.
The carrier cars of the train have aerodynamic farings at each end to assure smooth airflow along the sides and tops of the carrier cars during travel for minimum drag and energy use during transit.
Upon arrival at the destination station, the car containers are moved from the train to the arrival platform as soon as the train stops. The passenger coach doors open and drivers & passengers walk to their waiting cars, get in, and drive away from the station.
