MegaRail WhisperLiner Manually-Controlled Train
The high speed WhisperLiner trains consist of small self-propelled, 10 to 13
passenger cars that are mechanically coupled into short train sets with an
operator in the lead car. This type of initial service enables MegaRail to
provide high speed inter-city WhisperLiner train service within 30 months with virtually zero technical and schedule risk because operation is
similar to current manual train operation with only proven, off the shelf technology. Safety and capacity are increased by
use of the unique MegaRail capability to precisely measure train position on a
continuous basis using simple sensors and references located inside the patented
enclosed guideway rails and car-based switching that does not require moveable rails.

WhisperLiner Self-Propelled Passenger Coach
WhisperLiner coaches are 30-ft long, 7.5-ft wide with a center door plus
passage doors at each end. Cars are ultra-light, stainless-steel construction
for long life and easy maintenance. Coaches operate on rubber tires driven by
electric wheel-motors over continuous stainless-steel surfaces located inside
the guideway rail tubes for a smooth ultra-quiet ride. Each car collects
three-phase electric power from power rails located inside the guideway rail
tubes. Coaches are independently steered to maintain a fixed center position
within the guideway. Aerodynamic fairings at each end of the coaches provide for
smooth airflow along the train.

WhisperLiner 10 & 12-passenger Configurations
WhisperLiner coaches can be configured to seat from 10 to 13 passengers.
In-car storage racks are provided for luggage. Spacious, first-class seats are
provided at either side of a center aisle. An airliner-style lavatory is located
at the rear of each coach. Coaches feature stand-up headroom and overhead
luggage racks.

WhisperLiner lead coach has train crew provisions
WhisperLiners are manually-controlled by on-board train crews for initial
service. Control is accomplished in the same manner used for conventional
trains, except that switching between main line and sidings is initiated by the
train crew during travel. No movement of track switch elements is required
because switching is car-based. Precise, in-cab signaling enhances safety and
enables short headways between trains.
