Faster Trip Times than Light Rail or Buses
Personal automated transport (PAT) cars travel non-stop from boarding
station to exit station at 65 and 30-mph speeds. Because they do not
stop at stations along the route for ther passengers, the average speed
approaches 65-mph from cross-city trips. By comparison, a 55-mph light
rail train that must stop at all stations can offer average trip speeds
of only 15- to 20-mph.
Initial Systems Manual Train Mode Capacity Exceeds Light Rail
MicroRail manual train mode with 20-car (200-ft, 260-pass) trains can
move over 26,000 passengers per hour per direction for cross-city trips. With 300-ft platforms, capacity increases to 36,940 per hour/per direction.
This is enabled by (1) short load/unload times and (2) close train spacing
possible with frequent inside-the-rail box position reference uses.
Automated Fast Cargo Shipment
Fully automated MicroRail cargo moves within urban areas at 65-mph without stops from
origin terminal destination terminal on a 24-hour per day basis. The
small (1.5-ton) capacity containers can also be directly routed to the
cargo destination.
Automated Fast Urban Automobile Travel
Automated MicroRail dualmode cars transport drivers and passengers
non-stop at 65-mph from entry ramp to exit ramp. Car occupants arrive at
ramps near their ultimate destinations.
